A letter from Darrin Kelly, Allegheny-Fayette County Labor Council President

I have learned at an early age the importance and the valuable significance of local news in the community. I was born and raised in Pittsburgh, and I cannot remember a time when we did not have a local newspaper.

As an active member of the International Association of Firefighters Local 1, along with my present position as president of the Allegheny Fayette Central Labor Council, I have served our great city for the past 21 years. I can attest to how vital the local news is to our communities.

The Newspaper Guild of Pittsburgh members and their brothers and sisters at the Toledo NewsGuild are in the fight of their lives, and they need our support.

We must stand together with them and show respect for our local journalists and the honorable work they do to continue bringing diverse news to us every day.

In solidarity,

Darrin Kelly
President Allegheny-Fayette County Labor Council, AFL-CIO
